Dervişoğlu visited the National Thought Center and the National Sovereignty Platform.
Speaking after the visit alongside National Thought Association Chairman Hakan Paksoy, Dervişoğlu said they had a productive conversation regarding Turkey's fundamental issues, regional topics, and the risks stemming from Turkey's geopolitical position.
Stating that they will strengthen relations for the salvation of Turkey, the existence of the state, and the eternal survival of the Turkish nation in the geography it inhabits, Dervişoğlu expressed that they will share the ideas emerging from these discussions with the Turkish nation.
Thanking Dervişoğlu for his visit, Paksoy said, "In the midst of the severe crisis Turkey is currently facing, at a time when the unity of the Turkish nation, its national sovereignty, and the integrity of the Turkish homeland are felt to be under threat, the presence of you and your colleagues gives the Turkish nation at least a glimmer of hope. In this sense, I wish you and your fellow travelers success."
Following the statements, Dervişoğlu answered questions from members of the press.
Regarding the question about Ahmet Özer's arrest and his removal from the office of Mayor of Esenyurt, Dervişoğlu noted that an investigation into Özer lasting approximately 10 years has been mentioned, stating, "If this investigation had not taken so long, and if the preparation of this indictment, the start of the judicial process, and the judiciary's decision had perhaps been timed correctly, it would have been completed by now, and this crisis would not be happening today."
"I AM AGAINST TRUSTEES, WHEREVER THEY MAY BE"
Dervişoğlu stated the following regarding the appointment made by the Ministry of Interior to replace Ahmet Özer:
"I am against trustees, wherever they may be. Because the law must be applied to the fullest extent. If you are removing a mayor from office for any reason, the law should be your guide; it is possible to ensure those problems are overcome by complying with the laws.
Trustees should not be brought to Ankara or Istanbul. Discussing this on the political ground leads us toward different outcomes. While it is possible for a municipal council member to continue the duties of the mayor through an election from within the municipal council, bringing the issue of trustees to the agenda will also bring other political debates to our agenda."
