Statement from the DMM regarding 'mobile voter' allegations!

Turkey went to the polls today to elect its local administrators.

As of 17:00, all ballot boxes across the country will close and vote counting will begin.

While voting was ongoing throughout the day, a statement was issued by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) regarding the claim circulating on social media that "mobile voters from different provinces are being made to vote en masse."

In the statement made by the DMM, it was stated that the claim in question is not true.

The following statements were included in the statement made by the Center;

"The claim shared by some social media accounts that 'mobile voters from different provinces are being made to vote en masse' is not true.

In the first paragraph of Article 67 of the Constitution, it is emphasized that citizens have the right to vote, to be elected, to engage in political activities independently or within a political party, and to participate in referendums in accordance with the conditions set forth in the law; in the third paragraph of the same article, it is stated that every Turkish citizen who has reached the age of eighteen has the right to vote and participate in referendums; and in the fifth paragraph, the exceptions to the right to vote are indicated by stating, 'Privates and corporals under arms, military students, and convicts in penal execution institutions, except for those convicted of negligent crimes, cannot vote.'

On the other hand, ranked military personnel such as police and gendarmerie personnel can also vote.

The voting of law enforcement officers and ranked military personnel on duty in some regions during the March 31, 2024 Local Administration General Elections is being manipulated.

The transportation of security personnel serving in military units located in various regions of our country to the schools where they will vote is provided collectively to ensure that no security vulnerability occurs.

The security personnel in question only vote in the electoral districts where their voter registrations are located.

Contrary to what is alleged, there is no double voting, violation, or any negativity regarding election security in the regions.

Do not give credence to provocative claims shared on social media regarding election security."
