Statement from Ebru Uzun following NK's arrest: Everyone must step up

Ebru Uzun, who has drawn attention with her street interviews and aims to be the voice of society, made an important call on social media regarding the recent increase in detentions and arrests. Uzun emphasized that everyone should support this struggle, drawing attention to the situation of NK, who was recently detained and subsequently arrested while conducting a street interview.

In a statement on her social media account, Ebru Uzun said, "Following NK's arrest, we need to expand this struggle. Everyone must step up. We must raise our voices together so that everyone who wants to practice journalism freely can continue this profession without fearing for their safety."

Furthermore, sharing an emotional post about NK, Uzun stated, "NK is a woman the age of my mother. Her arrest deeply saddens me. This is not just an injustice done to a journalist, but a violation of rights committed against all of us."

Ebru Uzun also took a firm stance against criticisms. Stating that the recent criticisms directed at her are unfounded, Uzun said, "I am just a journalist working on the streets to make the public's voice heard. By risking my own safety, conducting interviews on the street alone, I am trying to resist censorship."
