Statement from FİLO Denizcilik regarding the ship accident off the coast of Kyrenia!

FİLO Denizcilik issued a written statement regarding the accident that occurred off the coast of Kyrenia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on August 30, 2026, involving the ship named “FİLO JET”.

The company stated that following the accident, the safety of the 259 passengers and crew on board was the most urgent matter.

CRISIS DESK ESTABLISHED

The statement indicated that a crisis desk was established within the company from the very first moment the accident occurred and that coordination was maintained with authorized search-and-rescue teams.

The company reported that search-and-rescue and evacuation efforts are continuing without interruption and that all available resources have been mobilized as part of the operation.

INFORMATION LINE FOR PASSENGER RELATIVES

FİLO Denizcilik stated that they are aware of the anxiety experienced by the families and relatives of the passengers following the accident and announced that a special crisis and information line has been set up to ensure the flow of information.

The statement noted that verified information obtained from the search-and-rescue operation is being tracked by company officials and will be relayed to passenger relatives and the public.

The company called for only statements made by official authorities to be taken into account in order to prevent misinformation regarding the accident.

In its statement, FİLO Denizcilik shared a message of support for the search-and-rescue teams as well as the passengers and crew on board, using the words, “Our prayers and all our strength are with our passengers, our crew, and our rescue teams on the ship.”
