Governor Gül arrived in the region to receive information about the search and rescue efforts following the collision of two ships off the coast of Silivri. After meeting with officials, Governor Gül made statements to the press. Governor Gül said, "Today we witnessed a sad event; unfortunately, two of our Turkish-flagged ships collided.

The scene of the incident is approximately 18 miles away from Silivri, and as a result, we believe one of our ships has sunk. Consequently, we have not received any word from the 10 crew members on board.

From the very first moment of the incident, the Coast Guard, Coastal Safety, our Naval Forces, AFAD, the Red Crescent, and all our institutions and organizations have begun operations both on land and at sea. Currently, there are 18 floating assets, 5 helicopters, 2 UAVs, 1 aircraft, and 1 ship belonging to the Naval Forces conducting underwater search activities at sea.

Of course, we know that the depth is very significant, approximately 800-900 meters, reaching up to a kilometer in some places. As a result, we know that searching and scanning is not easy. All the resources of our state and nation have been mobilized.

In a very short time, information regarding the ship and the crew will be obtained.

Here, under the coordination of our District Governorship and with the support of institutions and organizations, we have established a structure to provide information to everyone, including the crew's relatives, our fellow citizens who are concerned, and members of the press.

At the same time, our Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor is following the judicial process regarding the incident.

Regarding the cause of the accident, who is at fault, or whether there is fault, that is a process that will be determined. We will inform you from time to time," he said.

Following his statements, Governor Gül went to meet with the families of the missing crew members, who are waiting for news from their loved ones, and spoke with them for a while.
