Statement from Governor Masatlı regarding the forest fire in Hatay

The fire broke out in a forested area in the Yukarıbucak neighborhood of Hassa district at 19:05. The forested area where the fire started was quickly engulfed in flames. Upon noticing the flames, Regional Directorate of Forestry and fire department teams were dispatched to the region.

Under the coordination of the Hatay Governorship, response efforts are ongoing with 173 vehicles and approximately 470 personnel, including teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry, Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, AFAD, and other institutions.

A total of 540 people in the Yukarıbucak and Bademli neighborhoods, which are close to the forest fire, have been evacuated. The evacuated citizens have been placed in Temporary Accommodation Centers. Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı arrived at the fire zone and received information from the teams regarding the progress of the flames.

Governor Masatlı stated that there is currently no loss of life or property, saying, "Around 19:10 today, a fire report was received by our 112 Emergency Call Center for the Yukarıbucak and Bademli region.

Following this, our teams, primarily from the Regional Directorate of Forestry, our Hatay Metropolitan Municipality teams, and teams affiliated with our public institutions, arrived in the region. As of now, the fire is being responded to in our region with 173 vehicles and 470 personnel. We are evacuating 540 of our citizens from our Yukarıbucak and Bademli neighborhoods as a precautionary measure.

We will place our citizens in our empty containers upon request. As of now, there is no significant risk regarding the wind from our perspective. Our colleagues are taking the necessary precautions with general foresight regarding the fire. Vehicle and personnel planning is being carried out. Hopefully, we will not encounter any significant or negative results. As of now, there is no loss of life or property," he said.
