Statement from İmamoğlu on Gürsel Tekin and the recent tension: There is a clear intervention

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu shared a post on social media evaluating the tension involving Gürsel Tekin that occurred during the day.

In his post, İmamoğlu emphasized that 'there is no infighting within the CHP' and described the events surrounding the process as 'shameful'.

Ekrem İmamoğlu used the following expressions in his post:

We are experiencing a shameful process in which democracy, the rule of law, and multi-party life are being openly destroyed. This shame belongs to the government that threatens the Republic and democracy.

There is no infighting within the CHP; there is a clear intervention attempted by the government against the CHP through the force of the judiciary and the police. 

All of our party's congress processes have been carried out under the supervision and approval of the Supreme Election Council (YSK). Decisions made by ignoring the YSK and disregarding the Constitution have no value in the eyes of either the law or the nation.

Those who attempt unlawful interventions are trying to subjugate the nation through the CHP. However, our noble nation will never surrender. Our glorious history, full of struggle, will continue to guide us.

The spirit of the Defense of Rights (Müdafaa-i Hukuk) is more alive than ever. Until the nation's government is established, there is no stopping, tiring, or giving up for us.

For the future of our children and youth, we will continue to grow our struggle for the republic, democracy, and justice with perseverance, determination, and courage.

No matter what they do, our noble nation is with us. We will win, the nation will win.
