Statement from İSKİ regarding wastewater flowing into the sea in Üsküdar
The Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ) announced that a field inspection regarding the sewage water flowing into the sea in Üsküdar revealed that a approximately 100-meter line on Kuleli Street had completed its economic life and was insufficient in terms of cross-section.

In a written statement issued by İSKİ, it was noted that reports had appeared in some press and social media outlets regarding wastewater discharge into the sea on Kuleli Street in the Kuleli neighborhood of Üsküdar.
Stating that field inspections were conducted at the address in question, the statement said, "It has been determined that the approximately 100-meter line on Kuleli Street has completed its economic life and is insufficient in terms of cross-section. The lack of grease traps in the wastewater outlets of the Kuleli Military High School campus and the restaurants located in the area, as well as the dumping of heavy grease and food waste, are causing the wastewater lines to not function properly."
The statement provided information that, as of 2024, the administration has completed the cleaning of 44 cubic meters of wastewater lines in a 1900-meter section of this line, and that periodic inspections and cleaning works are continuing in the region.
Noting that project design studies have been completed to develop a permanent solution to the wastewater problem in the region, the statement recorded that the line will be renewed using the classic pipe-jacking method in April 2025, when excavation bans are lifted.
The statement indicated that with these works, wastewater in the region will be directed to treatment plants, and the entry of wastewater into the Bosphorus will be prevented.
