Statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the Ekol TV investigation!

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued a written statement regarding claims circulating in the public domain concerning Ekol TV. The statement emphasized that reports claiming an investigation was being conducted into the channel by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and that the file had been sent to Istanbul with a decision of lack of jurisdiction are not accurate.

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the investigation into the company that owns Ekol TV is being conducted directly by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and that the process was initiated in October 2025.

The statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is as follows:

"Although it has been understood that there have been claims in some press outlets and social media channels that an investigation was initiated into the “Ekol TV” channel by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and that the investigation documents were sent to our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with a decision of lack of jurisdiction, this situation does not reflect the truth. There is no investigation being conducted by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding this matter.

Following reports received by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the company that owns the aforementioned broadcasting organization, alleging in summary that assets derived from crime were being laundered, an investigation was initiated by us in October 2025;

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

It had been alleged that the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had transferred an investigation it launched into Ekol TV within the scope of “money laundering” allegations to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The claims stated that the file was transferred to Istanbul following the closure of the channel and the relocation of the company headquarters to Kağıthane.

On the other hand, the revelation that individuals from the IYI Party and former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's advisors were on the board of Ekol Sports, which is at the center of the money laundering allegations, had also caused a wide stir in the public.
