Allegations had emerged that a group of seven 11th-grade students at Istanbul High School had assaulted ninth-grade students. However, as the process unfolded, further allegations were raised that some ninth-grade students had prepared a "harassment list" and were threatening certain female students at the school.
According to a report by BirGün; the following statements were included in the informational message sent by the Parent-Teacher Association to parents:
“We are making an intense effort to ensure that this matter is overcome with minimal damage for both our children and our school. It has unfortunately saddened us all that the incident has been reflected in the press in this way and is being discussed on the slippery ground of social media. It is of great importance at this point that the matter be examined from multiple sides, that every detail be considered, and that every child be heard and understood.”
