In the IYI Party, which failed to achieve the desired results in the local elections, Chairwoman Meral Akşener, who decided to hold a party congress, had announced that she would not be a candidate.

It was alleged that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called on Akşener to 'stay at the head of the party' during a phone call made for the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Following the claim that dominated the agenda, a statement came from the IYI Party.

The following statements were made in the announcement released from the party's official social media account:

“Untrue news and allegations have been put forward regarding a phone call made out of courtesy between the President and our Chairwoman, Ms. Meral Akşener, as part of the holiday greeting program yesterday.

This conversation, which had no content other than holiday greetings, has been turned into a perception operation against our Party for different motives.

The organized spread of the news in question aims to harm the institutional structure of the IYI Party.

We submit the matter to the appreciation of the public, requesting the necessary sensitivity.”
