Statement from Kılıçdaroğlu after speaking with Burcu Köksal! What did he say on the phone?

While allegations that CHP's Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal will join the AKP continue to remain on the agenda, it was claimed that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu spoke with Köksal over the phone.

Journalist Fatih Atik, who is close to the government, claimed that Kılıçdaroğlu told Köksal, "It would have been more appropriate if you had remained independent."

Atik stated the following:

"There was a controversy on social media regarding Burcu Köksal, such as 'Did she speak with Kılıçdaroğlu? She requested an appointment, he didn't give one.' I spoke with Kılıçdaroğlu. He made a statement exclusively to TGRT. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu called Burcu Köksal. They evaluated the resignation issue. Kılıçdaroğlu said he was saddened by Burcu Köksal's resignation. Burcu Hanım replied, 'There is no longer any possibility for us to work with this administration. There is no longer any possibility for us to engage in politics within the CHP.' Upon this response, Kemal Bey commented, 'I understand the resignation. I wish you had remained independent; it would have been more appropriate.' In other words, he told her to continue her path as an independent mayor instead of joining the AK Party."

STATEMENT FROM KILIÇDAROĞLU

A statement came from Kılıçdaroğlu regarding the conversation in question. Speaking to Oda TV, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "It is very important for our country that the CHP remains united and strong. I am trying to ensure this. I told Burcu Hanım that she should remain a CHP member. If she does not want to do this, I conveyed my view that she should at least remain independent rather than joining another party."
