Statement from Minister Özhaseki regarding the earthquake in Tokat

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki announced that National Damage Assessment Teams (UHTE) have been deployed following the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sulusaray district of Tokat and was also felt in surrounding provinces.

In a post on his social media account, Özhaseki stated that teams are continuing their work without interruption under the coordination of AFAD following the 5.6-magnitude earthquake, which had its epicenter in the Sulusaray district of Tokat and was felt in surrounding provinces.

Stating that teams have been assigned for damage assessment work under the coordination of Deputy Minister Refik Tuzcuoğlu and General Manager of Construction Affairs Banu Aslan, Özhaseki noted the following:

"We have deployed our National Damage Assessment Teams (UHTE) from our Provincial Directorates in Ankara, Samsun, Ordu, Sinop, and Giresun to the provinces affected by the earthquake in order to carry out damage assessments in all our provinces where the earthquake was felt.

We are closely monitoring the work of our relevant units and teams in the field moment by moment.

We once again convey our best wishes to our citizens affected by the earthquake, and we urge them not to enter damaged buildings, in particular."
