Statement from Minister Yumaklı on forest fires: 45 are under control

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that 45 of the 55 forest fires that broke out today have been completely brought under control.

Yumaklı shared the latest developments regarding the forest fires on his social media account.

Stating that they arrived at the Fire Management Center to evaluate the current situation regarding the ongoing forest fires following the Cabinet meeting, Yumaklı said,

"We have completely brought 45 of the 55 forest fires that broke out in our country today under control. The intensity of the fires in Çanakkale Ayvacık and Ezine, Bolu Mudurnu, Kahramanmaraş Göksun, Muğla Milas, Hatay Yayladağı, and Manisa Şehzadeler has been reduced. Our teams' intervention continues for the fires in Çanakkale Center and Dardanos, Manisa Soma, and Edirne Enez."

"THE RISK WILL CONTINUE IN THE COMING DAYS"

Emphasizing that they are fighting with all their might to bring the ongoing fires under control as soon as possible, Yumaklı noted the following:

"We had issued warnings that we are going through a high-risk week in terms of forest fires. Unfortunately, the risk will continue in the coming days. Please, let us not burn fires or stubble outdoors. Let us not throw cigarette butts. Let us avoid behaviors that could cause fires."

In a post made on the social media account of the General Directorate of Forestry, it was stated that aerial and ground interventions continue for the fires ongoing in various regions of the country, announcing that the intensity of 7 out of 10 fires has been reduced, and that 8 of these 10 fires started in non-forest areas and spread to the forest.
