Statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports on 'KYK dormitory': Dormitory director suspended, investigation launched

One student lost her life as a result of an elevator malfunction at the Aydın Güzelhisar Girls' Dormitory. The Ministry of Youth and Sports issued a statement on the matter via social media. In its statement, the Ministry said, 'The dormitory director has been suspended by our Ministry, and an inspector has been assigned to conduct the necessary investigations into the incident.'

One student lost her life as a result of an elevator malfunction on the ground floor of the Aydın Güzelhisar Girls' Dormitory. Following the incident, students at the dormitory held a protest.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports issued a statement on the matter via social media.

"INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED"

The statement included the following remarks:

"Investigations are ongoing regarding the tragic incident that occurred at the Aydın Güzelhisar Girls' Dormitory. According to initial findings, the incident occurred due to an elevator malfunction on the ground floor, and it has been learned that 15 of our children are in good health. Unfortunately, one student lost her life while trying to exit the elevator in a state of panic.

We wish God's mercy upon our student and extend our condolences to her family and loved ones. A judicial and administrative investigation into the process is being conducted by the Public Prosecutor's Office. The dormitory director has been suspended by our Ministry, and an inspector has been assigned to conduct the necessary investigations into the incident. As a result of the investigations, necessary actions will be taken against those found to have been negligent, if any. Respectfully submitted to the public."
