Statement from Naci Görür following the earthquake in Malatya! 'As a result of the February 6 earthquakes...'

Following the 4.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Malatya, earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement on his social media account.

AFAD reported that a 4.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Akçadağ district of Malatya today (December 1) at 03:18.

The tremor occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers.  


FELT IN SURROUNDING PROVINCES

The earthquake was also felt in surrounding provinces and districts. It was learned that there were no negative incidents following the earthquake.

STATEMENT FROM NACI GÖRÜR

Following the earthquake, which caused brief panic in the region, earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement.

Regarding the 4.8 magnitude earthquake, Görür said, "A 4.8 earthquake occurred in Darende-Şuğul (Malatya). This earthquake is not on the East Anatolian Fault (DAF) or the Malatya Fault. The surface rupture is not clear."

Görür also stated the following:

"It is likely on a fault line extending in the NW-SE direction between Darende and Şuğul towards the Malatya Fault. It must be a fault that was loaded and triggered as a result of the February 6 earthquakes. Get well soon."
