The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Earthquake Department announced that a 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Mediterranean at approximately 12:05.
Following the earthquake, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement on his X account.
Görür noted the following in his statement:
"Friends, 4.3 and 4.1 magnitude earthquakes occurred in the Dodecanese Islands (Kalymnos) and the Gulf of Antalya (off the coast of Alanya). The cause of both earthquakes is the Hellenic-Cyprus subduction zone. Along this zone, the African Plate is subducting beneath the Anatolian Plate, with love."
