The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that a 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Battalgazi, Malatya, today (April 12) at 08:44.

The earthquake, which was recorded at a depth of 7 km, was also felt in surrounding provinces.

Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement on his social media account following the earthquake, which caused brief panic.

Görür stated, "Friends, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Pütürge-Söğütlü, Malatya. The earthquake is 4.1 in magnitude and is a result of the February 6 earthquakes, no need for concern, get well soon, with love."
