Two earthquakes measuring 3.7 and 4.5 in magnitude occurred off the coast of the Karaburun district of İzmir. Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement following the earthquakes, which caused brief panic.

According to information received from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7 occurred in the Aegean Sea at 07:56, at a depth of 9.74 kilometers and 50.17 kilometers away from Karaburun.
One minute later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 occurred at 07:57, at a depth of 7 kilometers and 45.60 kilometers away from Karaburun.
The earthquake that occurred off the coast of the Aegean Sea was not felt in the city center.

Following the earthquake, a statement came from Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür.
Sharing maps on his social media account, Görür stated, "A 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Aegean Sea. This earthquake likely occurred on a normal fault located just south of Lesbos Island. With love."
