Paris Olympic Games Communications Director Descamps responded to a question regarding the backlash from institutions such as the French Catholic Church over the depiction of the "Last Supper" painting, which features Jesus Christ, during a "drag queen" performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.
Descamps stated that they "had no intention of showing disrespect to any religious group" and argued that the results of the polls regarding the opening ceremony were an indication that the goal of "celebrating tolerance in society" had been achieved.
