The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that a 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Elazığ at 16:26. The Kandilli Observatory, meanwhile, reported the magnitude of the earthquake as 4.4.
A statement regarding the earthquake came from Prof. Dr. Naci Görür.
"I DO NOT EXPECT A DISASTER-LEVEL EARTHQUAKE"
Sharing a map on his X account, Görür said, "A 4.4 magnitude earthquake occurred in Küllük, Elazığ. The location of the earthquake is the segment of the East Anatolian Fault (DAF) between Sivrice and Malatya that had previously ruptured. This segment was likely loaded due to stress transfer during the February 6 earthquakes. This earthquake is also a minor tremor caused by the loading within this zone. I do not expect a disaster-level earthquake in Elazığ. There is no cause for concern. Best regards."
