An interim decision was announced last week in the trial regarding the assassination of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş in Ankara.

In the trial where 22 detained defendants are being tried, 10 people were released, and the next hearing was postponed to July 19.

Sinan Ateş's mother Saniye Ateş, his sister Selma Ateş, and his wife Ayşe Ateş met with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

"I WILL PURSUE THIS CASE UNTIL I DIE"

Mother Saniye Ateş made statements following the meeting at the CHP Headquarters.

Stating that they are trying to cover up the assassination, mother Ateş said, "I will pursue this case until I die."

Saniye Ateş's statements are as follows:

"I came to thank him. At this age, I came to seek justice. May God be pleased with him; he has stood by us since the first day. I wanted to thank him personally.

While I should be sitting at home, I have been forced to search for my child's killers.

(To Özgür Özel) I said, 'My son, I have no one else, find my son's killers.' They are turning this into an ordinary case. I have been forced to search for my son's killers. They are still threatening my children. At this age, this has fallen to me.

They are trying to cover it up. Because it was as if we were the ones at fault there. Everyone saw this. Should it have been like this? This is a political case.

This is not an ordinary crime. Did those street-level dealers do this? No, they didn't. Those who protect them behind the scenes gave them this comfort. They found the audacity to threaten my child. They wanted to close it as soon as possible so that no one would speak up. But I will pursue this case until I die. I might die, I might not see the conclusion of the case, but I will struggle on this path."

"WE EXPECT JUSTICE ON JULY 19"

Speaking about the hearing on July 19, Selma Ateş said, "We expect justice on July 19. It is not just our hearts that are broken, but the Turkish nation's. We will not be discouraged by this struggle. It is painful that judges silence us when we provide names. We have provided the names. The punishment given to two street-level dealers will not shed light on this murder."

THE ATEŞ FAMILY ALSO MET WITH DERVİŞOĞLU

Following their meeting with CHP leader Özgür Özel, the Ateş family also met with İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu.

During the visit, the Ateş family conveyed their concerns regarding the dilution of the legal process. Stating that they would follow the case, Dervişoğlu shared his belief that the file would be clarified in every aspect sooner or later.

The İYİ Party Chairman said, "Sinan Ateş is my colleague. Therefore, our reaction is not political; it is far beyond that."
