In a written statement issued by the Meat and Milk Board, it was stated: “A need has arisen to make a statement regarding baseless and untrue allegations made in some social media posts concerning our institution's overseas livestock and carcass procurement and domestic sales activities within the scope of market regulations.
The Meat and Milk Board takes measures to protect both producers and consumers by supplying products with supply shortages to the market and withdrawing products with supply surpluses from the market, within the scope of its duty to balance and regulate red meat markets.
Our institution's overseas procurement and market sales activities are carried out in accordance with legislation, ensuring competition and equal opportunity, and in a transparent and auditable manner.
Our overseas procurements are made from farms, unions, cooperatives, and/or slaughterhouses that have appropriate technical and health infrastructure. Under no circumstances are purchases made through intermediary individuals or companies. Such posts target the market balance that has already been successfully established.”
