Statement from the Ministry of National Defense on Syria: Were there Turkish soldiers at the base hit by Israel?

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) has issued statements regarding Israel's attack on the Abu al-Duhur Airbase in Syria, Greece's "Special Spatial Framework for Renewable Energy Sources" which also covers the Aegean Sea, and the recent phone calls of Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.

STATEMENT FROM THE MSB REGARDING THE ATTACK IN SYRIA

The MSB stated that Israel's attack on the Abu al-Duhur Airbase has damaged Syria's stability, security, unity, and integrity, as well as its infrastructure.

In the Ministry's statement, it was noted, "We emphasize at every opportunity that attacks violating Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity are unacceptable."

RESPONSE TO CLAIMS REGARDING A TURKISH MILITARY DELEGATION

Responding to claims that Turkish soldiers were present at the base during the attack, the MSB stated the following:

"We state that no Turkish military delegation was present at the base before or during the attack carried out by Israel on the Abu al-Duhur airbase in Syria."

While calling on Israel to end its attacks, the Ministry stated that international law must be followed to ensure peace and stability in Syria and the region.

The MSB also declared, "We will continue to support Syria's infrastructure and military capacity-building activities within the framework of the 'single army' principle."

REACTION TO GREECE'S REGULATION IN THE AEGEAN

The MSB announced that it is monitoring the "Special Spatial Framework for Renewable Energy Sources" declared by Greece, which also covers the Aegean Sea.

It was stated that the regulation in question does not have any legal consequences for Turkey, adding, "Our country maintains its determination to protect its rights, interests, and relations in the Aegean Sea within the framework of international law."

The statement also expressed that Turkey is in favor of resolving issues in the Aegean Sea based on international law, equity, and good neighborly relations.

BAYRAKTAROĞLU'S PHONE TRAFFIC

The Ministry also provided information regarding the recent phone calls made by Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.

The statement noted that Turkey has "become the center of regional security diplomacy," and conveyed that the Minister of National Defense and the Chief of General Staff continue their contacts with their counterparts within the scope of regional security and stability.

The MSB stated that Bayraktaroğlu's recent phone calls should be evaluated within this context.
