Statement from the Nuclear Regulatory Authority regarding radiation levels in Turkey

The announcement published on the institution's website included a radiological assessment regarding the attack carried out by Israel on Iran's Natanz Nuclear Facility.

Noting that radiation levels in the air are continuously measured across Turkey through the Radiation Monitoring and Early Warning System Network (RADİSA), which comprises 239 stations, and that data is transferred to the center within the NDK and monitored in real-time, the announcement stated, "As of 14/06/2025, there is no increase in radiation levels in our country."

The announcement shared information based on official channels from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding the missile and air strikes carried out by Israel against Iran, noting that as of 09:29 TRT yesterday, no increase in radiation levels outside the facility had been observed in Iran, and that the IAEA is closely monitoring the region and remains in contact with inspectors in the area and the Iranian Regulatory Authority.

Furthermore, the announcement included the statement made by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi as of 23:50 TRT yesterday, which noted the following:

"It has been confirmed that only the Natanz Nuclear Fuel Enrichment Plant was damaged in the attacks, and only the above-ground portion of this facility was destroyed. Additionally, it was stated that the electrical infrastructure at the facility was damaged. It was noted that radiation levels outside the Natanz Nuclear Fuel Enrichment Plant site have not changed, and therefore there is no radiological impact on the population or the environment as a result of the incident. It was stated that the IAEA is monitoring the situation on a 24/7 basis."
