The Ankara Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has issued a statement regarding dogs brought to Ankara from Şanlıurfa.
The Directorate reported that some of the dogs were found to be diseased and that they had been handed over to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality teams.
The statement from the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry is as follows:
“It has been observed that there are publications and posts containing disinformation on some media outlets and social media platforms claiming that stray animals brought to our city from Şanlıurfa through illegal means have been released. The puppies and adult dogs in question, which were identified at a clinic in our province and found to have various diseases, were handed over to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality teams on the same day under the supervision of our veterinarians responsible for animal health and were placed under observation. Dogs found to be dead were also taken by our Provincial Directorate to be examined and were delivered to the Etlik Veterinary Control Central Research Institute Directorate. The process regarding the matter is being followed in all its dimensions by our Provincial Directorate. The information that the animals were released, as alleged, does not reflect the truth.”
