A Turkish Airlines (THY) plane flying from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, to Istanbul has made an emergency landing in the Indian city of Kolkata.
Turkish Airlines Senior Vice President of Media Relations Yahya Üstün stated in his announcement that the emergency landing was due to a technical fault in the right engine and that the landing was carried out safely.
Üstün said, "A technical fault warning regarding the right engine was received on our Airbus A330 type aircraft operating the Kathmandu-Istanbul flight TK727 after takeoff.
The aircraft was diverted to Kolkata Airport in India for necessary checks and landed safely. A new flight plan has been made for our passengers to continue their journey."
