Following Özgür Özel's victory in the CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention, the words of journalist and former CHP deputy Barış Yarkadaş in September, "If Özgür Özel wins the election, I will quit the profession," had become a trending topic on social media.

ÖZEL HAD BACKED YARKADAŞ

Sharing a post on the subject on social media, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had said, "I think Barış Yarkadaş should reconsider his decision; I will call him tomorrow regarding this matter."

YARKADAŞ HAS MADE HIS FINAL DECISION

Participating in a live broadcast on TV100 today, Yarkadaş announced his final decision, stating, "The convention remained in the convention hall. I congratulated them all. I will call the others tomorrow as well. We will call what is right, right, and what is wrong, wrong; I will be here with my commentary. I will also be on tv100.com with my articles. But as I said, I have set aside active journalism for now."
