Statement of support for Ekrem İmamoğlu from Kılıçdaroğlu's hometown

Open support for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has come from Tunceli, the hometown of former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. The CHP Tunceli Youth Branch has announced its support for IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

The full statement is as follows: 

"The path out of the difficult process our country is currently in is a democratic and participatory management approach that takes the will of the people as its basis. As the Republican People's Party, we must walk the path with strong, populist, and inclusive leadership to build Turkey's bright future.

In the upcoming presidential elections, one of our party's most important steps is the primary election process. As the Republican People's Party Youth Branch, we believe that this process, which is based on the will of the people, will shape the future of Turkey.

In line with this belief, we announce to the public that we support our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has won the love of the people, proven himself with his success in municipal governance, revived the hopes of young people, and acts with the principles of justice, democracy, and merit, as the Republican People's Party's presidential candidate.

Ekrem İmamoğlu has demonstrated an egalitarian, fair, and transparent administration in Istanbul with his populist municipal approach, and has been the voice of young people, women, laborers, and all segments of society. The strong bond he has established with our citizens across Turkey is the most important indicator of his inclusive and unifying leadership.

Today, as young people, we are taking a leading role in this struggle by standing on the side of hope and justice. We need a presidential candidate who will lead Turkey from darkness to light and establish the power of the people. We believe that Ekrem İmamoğlu will be the hope not only of the CHP but of Turkey.

For this reason, as the CHP Tunceli Youth Branch, we declare that we strongly support Ekrem İmamoğlu in the determination of our party's presidential candidate.

We call on all our people, our members, and our young comrades to protect democracy and hope!"
