In an incident that occurred on October 12 in the Kepez district of Antalya, a dispute arose between Kıvanç Şensöz (34) and Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı (29), who was also a florist, on the grounds that he had shared the same flower bouquet photo on his social media account. During the ensuing argument, Şensöz punched Yıldırıcı, putting him into a coma. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. While the unconscious Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı was taken to Kepez State Hospital by ambulance by 112 Emergency Health teams, Kıvanç Şensöz was detained by patrol teams arriving at the scene and taken to the police station.
Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı lost his life on October 18 after a 6-day struggle for survival. While Yıldırıcı's funeral was held, the statement given by Kıvanç Şensöz to the police has emerged. It was learned that the suspect said in his statement, "I didn't think the incident would reach this point; I thought we would fight and then make up."
It was learned that in his statement, Şensöz said he knew Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı from before, and that after his wife's photos were shared, he called him and asked why they shared the photos without permission. Stating that he did not make any threats or insults during the conversation, Kıvanç Şensöz reportedly said in his statement, "I told them that what they did was theft, that these photos were my own work, and that I would file a complaint against them. Eşref Yunus told me, 'Complain wherever you want, do whatever you want, do your worst,' and upon this, I said, 'We won't be able to reach an agreement, I will call Ali O.'"
I COULDN'T CONTROL MY ANGER
Stating in his testimony that after Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı told him he could come over during their phone conversation, he sent his location but Yıldırıcı did not come, Şensöz said, "I called Ali O. and explained the situation; I told him they shared my wife's photos and that what they did was theft. He told me he would talk to them and 'pull their ears.' The matter was closed and I waited for them to call. In the evening, I went to the warehouse, asked Ali if he had spoken to them, and then showed him the photo that had been shared and said, 'Call him so we can talk.' At that moment, Eşref Yunus arrived. I asked him why he was doing such things and sharing my wife's photos. I couldn't control my anger and punched him. At that moment, Ali O. arrived and separated us. Later, when I saw Eşref covered in blood, I took him in my arms and opened his mouth to help him breathe; I waited for the ambulance to arrive in that state."
I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD REACH THIS POINT
Adding to his statement that he is not a boxer or a bodyguard as alleged, Şensöz said, "I am just a graduate of the School of Physical Education and Sports. I definitely did not use profanity against them during the conversations. It is true that I could not control my anger for a moment because they shared my wife's photos and I assaulted Eşref Yunus. I didn't think the incident would reach this point; I thought we would fight and then make up. The reason this incident occurred is that we initially determined that my wife's photos, our works, were being shared in the Bodrum region without our permission, intentionally not being shared in the Antalya region."
