Claims that detention warrants were issued for the two sons of CHP Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar were circulated by some media outlets.
A statement regarding the matter was issued by the CHP Adana Provincial Presidency.
The statement from the CHP Adana Provincial Presidency included the following:
"To the public:
The claims circulated on social media today around 18:30 regarding detention warrants for the children of Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Zeydan Karalar and that a search was conducted at his home do not reflect the truth.
From the very first moment this untrue news began to spread, our Provincial Chair, our Adana deputies, and our lawyers have been by the side of Zeydan Karalar’s esteemed family, and the press has been informed that these rumors are false.
We would like to announce that legal action will be initiated against those who are attempting to mislead the public with untrue news and a document whose authenticity cannot be verified, which appears to be signed with an e-signature under the heading of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
No one should forget that those who try to threaten our Mayors, who are being targeted for punishment through detention, and our colleagues through their families can never harm our determination to struggle. The competent authorities must inform the public about this matter immediately.
Please do not rely on information other than the statements made by us.
Respectfully,
CHP Adana Provincial Presidency"
