Speaking about the assassination of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş, İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener said, "We have witnessed political murders in the past, but they were done in a 'manly' way. That is why none of us were afraid, but those who murdered that child's father are drug dealers."

"IF THIS ISN'T COWARDICE, WHAT IS?"

Quoting Akşener's speech, Ayşe Ateş said, "What is this if not baseness, cowardice, in other words, a lack of honor?"

Ateş's post is as follows:

"They had my husband, the father of my children, murdered by two drug dealers in the middle of the street, and that wasn't enough. They weren't satisfied, they weren't fulfilled. Even after Sinan passed to the afterlife, they continued to cling to the slanders they cast and the lies they told about him. They couldn't do it to him while he was alive, so they tried to discredit him after his death. That wasn't enough either; they had me followed, had my phone tapped, and had photos of my home taken. They haven't given my children and me a single day of peace, and they still don't. What is this if not baseness, cowardice, in other words, a lack of honor?"
