Statement on laying down arms and dissolution from the terrorist organization PKK

In the new resolution process, architected by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and referred to by the government as a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' terrorist ringleader Abdullah Öcalan had made a call to the terrorist organization PKK to lay down arms and dissolve on February 27, through the DEM Party Imralı Delegation that came to meet with him.

While 2 months have passed since this statement, no concrete step has been taken. Regarding the subject, Mustafa Karasu, one of the so-called leaders of the terrorist organization PKK, made statements concerning the call by terrorist ringleader Öcalan.

Speaking to Medya Haber TV, Karasu said, "We will realize the transformation put forward by the leadership, the dissolution of the PKK, and the termination of the armed struggle. Let no one have any hesitation about this. The state and the government also need to do what is necessary in the direction of democratization without hiding behind any excuses."

Stating that the call by terrorist ringleader Öcalan is a turning point, Karasu said in summary:

"The effort put forth by the leadership will, of course, have its requirements fulfilled by us. We will respond to this effort. We have always been in a position to respond to the leadership's effort; we are such a movement. We may have shortcomings or inadequacies, but we have always been in a position to respond to his efforts in line with the leadership's ideological and political line. We will continue to be so from now on."

Stating that the PKK will fulfill the requirements of Öcalan's call, Karasu spoke as follows:

“The PKK will comply with the call. The PKK is a leadership movement. The leadership has determined the PKK's policy and ideology. In this respect, the leadership determines what this movement will do and how it will act. We cannot represent this movement and struggle as a whole. But the leadership expresses representing this movement as a whole. We are in this consciousness. We have always been in this approach. We have been the followers and adherents of the leadership. Today, we are also the followers and adherents of the leadership. We will realize the transformation put forward by the leadership, the dissolution of the PKK, and the termination of the armed struggle. Let no one have any hesitation about this. The state and the government also need to do what is necessary in the direction of democratization without hiding behind any excuses."
