The General Directorate of Foundations (VGM) stated regarding the apartment rented by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya's son, "The apartment in question was rented via tender in 2019, and a 25 percent rent increase has been applied each year.

The statement conveyed that "the VGM is responsible for the management of real estate belonging to consolidated foundations, and that the rents for properties belonging to the General Directorate are determined in a fair and transparent manner in accordance with legal regulations and market conditions."

The statement, which noted that the property in Istanbul mentioned in some media reports is among the "ancestral properties" and is managed by the institution, recorded the following:
"Our institution is a public institution with a special budget, and the contracts we make with our tenants are conducted within the scope of private law and are subject to the provisions of the Code of Obligations. Our institution performs a rent update every 5 years within the scope of Article 344 of the Code of Obligations and shows the necessary sensitivity and care to ensure that properties are rented at their current market values.

It was alleged that Ahmet Yerlikaya, the son of Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, pays only 6,700 TL for an apartment belonging to the General Directorate of Foundations.
According to a report by İsmail Arı from BirGün, Ahmet Yerlikaya resides in an apartment belonging to the General Directorate of Foundations in the 5. Levent neighborhood of Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district. Yerlikaya, who has been living there since 2019, pays only 6,719 TL in rent.
In advertisements published online, it is stated that rents between 55 thousand and 95 thousand TL are requested for apartments in the complex where Yerlikaya resides.
