Statement that will anger Erdoğan: Cem Küçük criticizes the 5,000 lira bonus

Journalist Cem Küçük, known for his proximity to the government, criticized the one-time 5,000 lira bonus payment announced by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which excludes working retirees.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced following yesterday's cabinet meeting that a one-time payment of 5,000 Turkish Liras would be made to retirees, while also stating that working retirees would be excluded from the payment. 

Erdoğan said, "Those who are both retired and working will be outside the scope. Payments will be deposited into our retirees' accounts as of the first half of November." 

While millions of retirees were expecting an adjustment to their pensions, they were disappointed by the news of the bonus, which had been described as 'good news'.

Journalist Cem Küçük, known for his proximity to the government, criticized the regulation in question. Küçük stated the following:

"An adjustment was expected for those receiving under 10 thousand liras. It didn't happen. 5 thousand liras won't be of much help. Let's say that people are not satisfied. They were expecting a regulation that would resolve their grievances. Erdoğan said the main raise would be in January. Retirees are not very happy with this situation; let us underline that they are right."
