Statements from Destici: It was a law that I thought must be supported

I will not take a step back, and I will answer everyone in the language they understand. I will pay whatever the price is; we say what we believe!

CONSTITUTIONAL DISCUSSIONS

Participating in a live broadcast on Habertürk, Destici continued his remarks as follows: Since the day the BBP was founded, we have been saying that Turkey must get rid of the coup constitution. We said yes to all amendment proposals. We are a party that favors democratization.

First and foremost, we want a democratic constitution. Turkey's official language is Turkish; we do not want another language added to this. Every nation has a name, and our common identity is the Turkish Nation. We will not compromise on this.

We want everyone to benefit from these rights in political, civil, and social matters.

Without touching the first 4 articles, we want the definition of secularism to be made clearer. If this is truly about freedom of belief and thought, then why were these children not allowed into schools with their headscarves?

But this issue should be evaluated under a different article.

Mr. Numan actually touched on a technical issue there; he meant to ask if there could be a correction in terms of language, but since it concerns the first 4 articles, our nation is sensitive, and I think this should be taken into account. Otherwise, Mr. Numan did not have a stance like 'let's change the first 4 articles'.

I am expressing my understanding, but I do not think like Mr. Numan. He has an academic title, and I interpret it as an academic speech he gave at a university opening.

He stated that he has no issue with the first four articles of the Constitution.

COMMENTS ON THE NEW SOLUTION PROCESS

Softening in politics and dialogue between parties are scenarios everyone would want. But our red line is terrorism and violence.

If a party that is represented in parliament—which, in our view, is a so-called political party—does not distance itself from the terrorist organization, does not curse or condemn terrorism, in other words, does not truly become a party of Turkey, we as the BBP will not shake hands with them, we will not even greet them.

They have the blood of our soldiers on their hands...

Let them condemn terrorism, and I will shake hands and talk. Mr. Bahçeli's statements are very clear; it is obvious that no solution process will come out of this.

If an attempt is made to bring about a solution process with sugar-coated words, we will not consent to it.

The executives of the DEM Party take orders from either Qandil or Imrali. As such, there can be no dialogue or a new solution process with them.

We are obliged to take steps together and produce solutions for our country, but our red line is terrorism and violence. If the terrorist organization continues its attacks and I am losing martyrs, I cannot see any good intentions here...

In this situation, we will not sit at a new solution process table with such a so-called party, a party that wants freedom for all terrorists.

Our President and AKP spokespersons have stated that there is no such situation. Mr. Bahçeli also explained for what purpose he took this step. The judgment is up to our nation...
