The statements of 48 people detained in the second wave of the operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) have been completed.
Following the prosecutor's questioning, an arrest was requested for 30 people. Judicial control was requested for 18 people.
Among those for whom arrest was requested are Gözdem Ongun, the wife of Murat Ongun, Cevat Kaya, the brother of Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, and İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa.
18 people were released under judicial control.
THE INCIDENT
As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the IMM regarding the crimes of "establishing, managing, and being a member of an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "rigging tenders," "bribery," and "qualified fraud," a new operation was carried out by teams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Branch on Saturday, and arrest warrants were issued for 53 people in the second wave. In the simultaneous operations conducted in the provinces of Istanbul, Ankara, and Tekirdağ to apprehend the 53 suspects for whom detention orders were issued, 52 people were taken into custody.
