Statements of suspects arrested in the Atlas Çağlayan murder investigation revealed: 'I request a decision for my release'

Following the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan in Güngören, 3 of the suspects alleged to have threatened his mother and made provocative posts were detained by the Security Branch, and 3 were detained by the Cyber Crimes Combat Branch teams.

While the procedures for the 3 suspects who gave statements at the Security Branch Directorate continue, the 3 individuals whose procedures were completed at the Cyber Crimes Combat Branch were referred to the courthouse.

The suspects Y.T., S.T., and A.E., whose statement procedures at the prosecutor's office were completed, were referred to the Duty Magistrate's Court with a request for arrest.

The suspects Y.T. and S.T., who appeared before the Magistrate's Court, connected to the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS), and all 3 suspects were arrested on charges of 'threat' and sent to prison after their procedures.

Statements of the suspects revealed

On the other hand, the statements given by suspects Y.T., S.T., and A.E. at the Duty Magistrate's Court have been revealed. Stating that he did not accept the accusations against him, suspect A.E. said, "The individuals who made this post, in order to frame me for the crime, copied the email belonging to me used in the video from the section of my channel that benefits from privileges, and pasted the video content. For this reason, when the link is clicked, my account appears. However, I am definitely not the person who made this post or sent these messages. I do not know who they are. I request that a decision for my release be granted."

"I also underwent an investigation in the Hakan Çakır case due to my cousin, Ömer F.A."

In his defense, the minor suspect Y.T. said, "Ömer F.A. is my cousin. He had assigned me to recruit and remove members from a site called PKK V404 Announcement. I do not know if this site has any connection with the PKK. My cousin sent a link to my WhatsApp from the line he uses. When I opened the link, I saw that the mentioned message had been sent. The phone belongs to me. I also underwent an investigation in the Hakan Çakır case due to my cousin, Ömer F.A. I request that a decision for my release be granted."

Suspect S.T. also said in his defense, "The line I used belongs to me, but my brother Y.T. uses this line. I have no information about my brother Y.T. or anyone else sending threatening messages to Atlas Çağlayan's family. I did not engage in such an act either. I request that a decision for my release be granted. I do not accept the points made against me."
