The General Directorate of Meteorology and the Istanbul Governor's Office had issued warnings regarding the strong storm expected in the Sea of Marmara over the weekend.
The storm, which began on Saturday afternoon and is forecast to continue until Sunday evening, has made its impact felt in Istanbul.
While the waves hitting the Beşiktaş coast reached heights of 2-3 meters, maritime voyages were also negatively affected.
Citizens on the shore enjoyed the waves hitting the coast. As the waves crashed against the shore, some citizens took photos and videos with their mobile phones, while others watched the waves from the seaside. Moments of two friends riding bicycles on the shore without paying attention to the waves were captured on camera. A ship was also filmed trying to advance despite the waves.
In a statement made by İDO, it was learned that maritime voyages were also cancelled on Sunday due to the effect of the storm.
