Stray animal statement from the Palace that will anger Erdoğan: 'Stubbornness benefits no one'

As debates continue over the legislative proposal regarding stray animals, a different perspective has emerged from the Palace. Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Council member İlnur Çevik commented on the stray animal bill currently on the agenda, stating, "Stubbornness benefits no one."

The legislative proposal prepared by the AKP, which envisions the euthanasia of stray animals, continues to be debated by the public.

On July 23, the Bill on Amendments to the Animal Protection Law, which includes regulations concerning stray animals, was approved by the TBMM Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Affairs Commission.

Although it was stated that the term 'euthanasia,' which drew significant backlash, was removed from the proposal, the path to performing euthanasia according to the principles of the Veterinary Services Law was kept open.

A DIFFERENT VOICE FROM THE PALACE

Hakkı İlnur Çevik, who was removed from his position as Chief Advisor to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan but continues to serve as a member of the Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Council, reacted to the Animal Rights Law on Twitter, stating, "Stubbornness benefits no one."

Çevik expressed the following in his post:

"The Animal 'Protection' Law proposal, which is impossible to implement and will only deepen the already chaotic problem of homeless animals, should not be enacted and should be reviewed. Stubbornness benefits no one."
