Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör will also meet 12punto readers with her columns. Prof. Dr. Güngör, who has mentored numerous figures in the field of communication, will publish her articles on Mondays.

WHO IS PROF. DR. NAZİFE GÜNGÖR?

Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör is a graduate of the Ankara University School of Press and Broadcasting. She completed her master's and doctoral studies at the Ankara University Institute of Social Sciences. She began her academic career in 1991 as a Research Assistant at the Gazi University Faculty of Communication.

During the 2000-2001 academic year, she served as a visiting scholar at the University of Manchester in England as a Turkish Academy of Sciences fellow. Between 2004 and 2008, she served as a Press and Public Relations Consultant to the Rectorate of Gazi University.

Güngör, who also served as the Head of the Journalism Department at the Faculty of Communication between 2007 and 2010, retired from her faculty position at Gazi University in September 2011 and subsequently worked as a full-time faculty member and dean at the Istanbul Arel University Faculty of Communication for a period.

Continuing her academic activities within the Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, Nazife Güngör served as the Dean of the Faculty of Communication between 2015 and 2023. As of 2023, she was appointed as the Rector of Üsküdar University.

She has authored, edited, and translated numerous books, including; Popüler Kültür ve İktidar (Vadi, 1999), Arabesk (Bilgi Yayınları, 1993), Abdülcanbaz (Cumhuriyet Kitapları, 2008), Cumhuriyet Döneminden Günümüze Dil, Kültür, Eğitim (Gazi University, 2006), Atatürkçü Düşüncenin Bilimsel ve Felsefi Temelleri (Gazi University, 2006), Çocuk ve Toplum (Translator, Gündoğan, 1995), Medya, İletişim, Kültür (Translator, Vadi, 2001), Gazi Üniversitesi Öğrenci Profili (Gazi University, 2007), Cumhuriyet Döneminde İletişim (Siyasal Kitabevi, 2010), İletişim, Kuramlar ve Yaklaşımlar (First Edition, Siyasal Kitabevi, 2011), İletişime Giriş (First Edition, Siyasal Kitabevi, 2011), İletişime Giriş (expanded 2nd Edition, Siyasal Kitabevi, 2013), and İletişim Kuramlar ve Yaklaşımlar (expanded 2nd Edition, Siyasal Kitabevi, 2013), as well as various papers and articles in the field of communication.
