The strike decision taken by Kadıköy Municipality workers due to the lack of results in the ongoing collective bargaining negotiations ended after 1 minute, following the municipality's announcement that the collective bargaining agreement had been signed.

Workers who are members of the 1st Branch of the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK)-affiliated General Services Workers' Union (Genel-İş), gathered in front of the Kadıköy Municipality Marriage Office during the night, announced that they had decided to go on strike on the grounds that no consensus could be reached in the collective bargaining agreement with Kadıköy Municipality, and hung a banner reading "There is a strike at this workplace" on the municipal building.
Nazan Gevher Çam Ay, the head of the union's Anatolian Side 1st Branch, stated in a speech there that they had decided to strike after the collective bargaining negotiations they were conducting with Kadıköy Municipality, its subsidiary Kadıköy Health Tourism Education Environmental Cleaning Industry and Trade Inc. (KASDAŞ), and the Social Democratic Public Employers' Union (SODEMSEN) yielded negative results.
However, when the clock struck 00:01 on November 19, a message was sent to the workers by Kadıköy Municipality stating, "The negotiations between our municipality's KASDAŞ Company and our Genel-İş Union have concluded with an agreement."
The workers who had gathered in front of Kadıköy Municipality for the strike decision tried to discuss the details of the signed agreement with union representatives upon receiving this message, but could not obtain any results.
In her speech to the workers waiting in front of the municipality, Nazan Gevher Çam Ay stated that the agreement was signed despite them, saying, "We held protests in front of the municipality for a long time so that this agreement would not be signed. We did not foresee that the agreement would be signed one minute past midnight. We will explain this entire process. There is no point in me remaining here as the branch president. We did not hang a banner on the municipal building saying 'do not touch the will of the worker' in vain. They refrained from even seeing this, and while we were hanging the strike banner, messages were sent to your mobile phones. This is not an acceptable situation."
Following the emergence of the text of the collective bargaining agreement signed between the union and Kadıköy Municipality, the majority of the workers waiting for the strike decision left the front of the municipal building.
