Strike averted at Metro Istanbul: Agreement reached in collective bargaining
The 18th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations between the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) subsidiary Metro Istanbul and the Demiryol-İş Union have concluded with an agreement. The strike decision, which concerned 2,653 employees, has been withdrawn.

The 18th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations, which have been ongoing since December 2024 between the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) transportation subsidiary Metro Istanbul and the TÜRK-İŞ-affiliated Demiryol-İş Union, have concluded with a consensus.
The strike decision, which had been set for May 27 following a deadlock in negotiations, was canceled due to a last-minute agreement.
AGREEMENT SIGNED COVERING 2,653 EMPLOYEES
The agreement, which covers a total of 2,653 unionized employees, was signed by the parties today. Metro Istanbul Chairman of the Board Dr. Özgür Soy thanked all parties who contributed to the process in a statement on his social media account:
“We tried to do more than our best for our employees. I congratulate all worker and employer representatives. I would also like to thank the IMM administration for their support.”
