Striking assessment from the TKP regarding the PKK's dissolution decision: We will oppose it

The assessment stated, "We will oppose the content of today's announcement, which is consistent with the framework previously expressed by Bahçeli, Öcalan, and AKP officials, as well as the historical direction of the preparations that signify the AKP government continuing its 23-year policies and moving them into a new phase."

The statement emphasized that "it has been confirmed once again that no fundamental issue can be resolved without targeting socialism and without having the will to overthrow capitalism."

The full statement is as follows:

"With the announcement made by the PKK today, a new era is opening in terms of political and social dynamics in Turkey. Our party, of course, supports the dimension of the process defined as the 'silencing of weapons.' However, we will oppose the content of today's announcement, which is consistent with the framework previously expressed by Bahçeli, Öcalan, and AKP officials, as well as the historical direction of the preparations that signify the AKP government continuing its 23-year policies and moving them into a new phase.

In this country, the struggle for equality, freedom, secularism, independence, and the Republic has entered a new phase. It has been confirmed once again that no fundamental issue can be resolved without targeting socialism and without having the will to overthrow capitalism. The claim that the phenomenon called the 'Kurdish issue' is a problem independent of and above Turkey's fundamental issues is collapsing as of today. It is clear that the established order and the AKP government cannot and do not want to give anything other than more exploitation and more reactionism to our citizens of Kurdish, Turkish, or other ethnic origins.

The steps that will come to the agenda in the coming period and be called 'democratization' will consist only of the release of certain social segments and politicians who were held hostage to provide the necessary support for the government to achieve its goals over the years. The goals of the 'release of hostages' policy, which will be used to legitimize AKP's Turkey with a new Constitution and to guarantee the upcoming elections with a neo-Ottomanist and pro-market content, must be objected to, while the release of the hostages must, of course, be supported.

"WE WILL OPPOSE THE BILL BEING PASSED TO THE FOUNDATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY AND TO SOCIALISM"

However, we will oppose the cost of this makeup being paid by the working people of Turkey and, as specifically emphasized in all statements, the bill being passed to the foundation of the Republic of Turkey and to socialism. The TKP will make a consistent, creative, and revolutionary intervention in the discussions of this period and will courageously continue the struggle to pass the bill to today's exploitative order.
