The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras, President of the High Advisory Council (YİK) of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD).

It was stated that the investigation was opened due to certain public statements made by Aras, on charges of "attempting to influence a fair trial" and "publicly disseminating false information."

While this process initiated by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has led to various interpretations in the public sphere, journalist Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu also made assessments regarding the matter.

In a post on his social media account, Mollaveisoğlu recalled that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had previously opened investigations into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and used the following expressions:

"The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office… That is, the prosecutor's office that opened investigations into Ekrem İmamoğlu, has launched an investigation into TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation into Aras for attempting to influence a fair trial and publicly disseminating false information due to his remarks capable of disturbing public peace… I draw your attention; a TÜSİAD member had already criticized the arbitrary application of the investigation grounds written above, which do not comply with the law."
