A striking claim has been put forward by journalist Yıldız Yazıcıoğlu regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu, whom the CHP has nominated as its presidential candidate but who has been detained for a long time at the Marmara Prison in Silivri.

Yazıcıoğlu shared the backstage information she received from AKP figures during a live broadcast on Tele1.

Explaining the step to be taken to prevent Ekrem İmamoğlu from competing in the elections, Yazıcıoğlu used the following expressions:

"The impression in AKP backstage is that Ekrem İmamoğlu will be a convict in the upcoming election, beyond just being detained. Although Demirtaş was detained, he had the chance to compete in the 2018 elections.

However, unlike him, a verdict will be reached regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu in the upcoming election, and thus he will not be able to run even from Silivri. In other words, they will not even grant İmamoğlu this chance."
