The Republican People's Party (CHP) emerged victorious from the March 31 Local Elections, and all eyes have now turned to who will be nominated for the 2028 Presidential election.

While Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş are among the leading names, a striking claim has been made.

Evaluating who the presidential candidate will be in 2028 within the CHP, TGRT Haber Ankara Representative Fatih Atik announced that Mansur Yavaş will be a presidential candidate in 2028 and that his efforts are in this direction.

4 NAMES STAND OUT FOR CANDIDACY IN THE OPPOSITION

It is being discussed that Özgür Özel, Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mansur Yavaş, and the party's former chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu are engaged in fierce competition for the candidacy within the CHP. Speaking on the Medya Kritik program broadcast on TGRT Haber, TGRT Haber Ankara Representative Fatih Atik made noteworthy assessments regarding the issue.

STRATEGIC MOVES FROM ÖZEL AND İMAMOĞLU

Stating that strategic moves are being made within the party for the presidency, Atik noted that Ekrem İmamoğlu has been holding meetings with AKP mayors in Istanbul, while Özgür Özel has been visiting party leaders.

YAVAŞ'S GOAL IS THE PRESIDENCY

Continuing his statement, Atik emphasized that Yavaş is working toward the candidacy, saying, "Mansur Yavaş will be a presidential candidate in 2028, and his efforts toward this are ongoing. This is the point that Mr. Mansur wants and targets. It would take Mansur Yavaş only 1 day to collect 100 thousand signatures." Pointing out that a candidacy crisis could arise between Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş, Atik stated that Özgür Özel's support currently stands out among the potential candidates.
