Striking comment from Özgür Özel on Yavaş and İmamoğlu's solidarity: 'This unity...'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş came to Istanbul to support Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who went to the Çağlayan Courthouse to give a statement regarding investigations opened against him. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel shared the photograph showing this support on his social media account and stated, 'This unity is Turkey's hope.'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş was at the Çağlayan Courthouse to support Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was giving a statement due to his remarks over the past eight days regarding Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek and his exposure of an expert witness involved in most CHP cases.

The images of Yavaş and İmamoğlu together, as they addressed the crowd gathered in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse, became one of the most talked-about frames of the political agenda.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also made a post on his social media account regarding the crowd gathered at the Çağlayan Courthouse and the images that emerged.

I thank our mayors Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş, who lit the fire of hope for Turkey today, and the tens of thousands of our citizens and party members who took to the streets to stand by them.

I extend my gratitude to the IYI Party, DEM Party, Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi), Future Party (Gelecek Partisi), Victory Party (Zafer Partisi), DEVA Party, Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), Left Party (Sol Parti), Labour Party (EMEP), New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi), and Independent Turkey Party (Bağımsız Türkiye Partisi), who showed great solidarity for democracy and justice.

The struggle we are waging shoulder to shoulder is the struggle for Turkey.
