Striking comment on Erdoğan from AKP's Metin Külünk: 'His sociology is melting away'
Continuing his criticisms of his party, AKP member Metin Külünk stated, "The Erdoğan sociology in Turkey is melting away. No one accepts self-criticism."

AKP member Metin Külünk drew attention with his criticisms of his party's policies in the 140journos video titled "Savings from Reputation."
AKP member Mücahit Birinci reacted to Külünk's statements. Speaking to Cumhuriyet columnist Barış Pehlivan, Külünk responded to AKP member Mücahit Birinci, who accused him of "making thoughtless criticisms" and "being detached from reality," by saying: "I have a 52-year history of struggle. He should not say this to me. Well, if we cannot keep the tradition of self-criticism alive, if we do not hold a mirror to ourselves and voice our rights and wrongs, what will we do?"

Külünk also made a striking comment about AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
"All the good work done by the President are things that make the nation happy. But the gaps that exist also leave behind serious sorrow. I am aware of these," said Külünk, adding, "If I am saying these things openly, it means I see something on the street. Because I am a man who walks alone and travels constantly. I see a wave that concerns us all."
Külünk further stated, "The Erdoğan sociology in Turkey is melting away," and added: "The street melted the AK Party sociology in 2023. It gave its answer but stood by Erdoğan. After 2024, it expected the gentleman to say 'we have received the message' and do what is necessary. When the global picture began to affect people's dinner tables and there was insistence on neoliberalism, I said 'the Erdoğan sociology is melting away'."
Expressing his views on the legislative proposal regarding stray animals, Külünk said:
"If I put in front of you only the photograph of a child who died from a stray dog attack, what would you do? Yet this is a reality. But if you turn around and say, 'Sir, let's take precautions, but on the other hand, there is serious concern in the general public. A belief has developed that dogs will be mass-killed due to these incidents. We can find a formula between these two that does not lead to killing,' I am sure the President would say, 'Work on this matter from this perspective.' I was so saddened when I heard the sentence 'The streets are unsafe'..."
