Striking correspondence emerges in Gülistan Doku investigation: 'I'm going to spill everything, you'll see what's what'

The investigation into the disappearance of university student Gülistan Doku, who went missing in Tunceli in 2020, has taken on a new dimension. The latest documents added to the file have brought to light correspondence between fugitive Umut Altaş and his father. CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN UMUT ALTAŞ AND HIS FATHER EMERGES

According to the Sabah newspaper, the correspondence added to the investigation file contains suspicious statements made by fugitive Umut Altaş to his father. In messages sent to his father, Altaş made a major threat, stating, "I will call the prosecutor and tell her everything." In another exchange, he adopted an even more threatening tone, using the phrase, "I'm going to spill everything, you'll see what's what."

Umut Altaş, who fled to Mexico in 2022 and was later determined to have entered the United States through illegal means, had an Interpol red notice issued against him. The correspondence between the fugitive Altaş and his father provides important information regarding the processes during which the crime was committed. In particular, statements such as, "I will tell the prosecutor everything. I will tell her that you sent me to America," reveal a potential criminal connection involving the Altaş family.

MONEY DEMAND FROM FATHER CELAL ALTAŞ

Another striking element in the correspondence is Umut Altaş's demand for money from his father. In correspondence dated January 9, 2026, it was recorded that Altaş wrote to his father, "You think it's that easy, don't you? There will be a price for what you've done. I'm expecting 9 thousand dollars in my account today," to which his father, Celal Altaş, gave a harsh response, saying, "So you know about everything, you scoundrel."

150 THOUSAND DOLLARS DEMANDED BACK

On the other hand, it was also determined in the correspondence that Celal Altaş demanded the return of 150 thousand dollars he had previously sent to his son, Umut Altaş. This exchange of money between father and son has been recorded as another important detail that could lead to the deepening of the investigation.

Search efforts initiated for Gülistan Doku, who went missing in Tunceli in 2020, had yielded no results.

In the reopened file, an investigation was conducted on charges of 'intentional homicide', 'sexual assault', 'concealing or destroying evidence of a crime', 'destroying or corrupting data by illegally accessing an information system', 'deprivation of liberty', 'failure to report a crime', and 'aiding and abetting a criminal'. Among those apprehended were the former Governor of Tunceli Tuncay Sonel, Tuncay Sonel's son Mustafa Türkay Sonel, former police officer Gökhan Ertok, who is alleged to have deleted data from Doku's SIM card, the then-Chief Physician of Tunceli State Hospital Çağdaş Özdemir, who is alleged to have deleted hospital records, former Tunceli Provincial Special Administration employee Erdoğan Elaldı, Celal Altaş, Nurşen Arıkan, Ferhat Hanedan Güven, and Doku's boyfriend Zeinal Abakarov.
